BEDC Annual Report 2015

The best place to live is also the best place to grow.

On April 12, BEDC held its public AGM, titled Burlington: My Place to Grow. With more than 80 people in attendance, the event showcased the unveiling of the 2015 Annual Report, as well as an Executive Update from Executive Director Frank McKeown.  This year’s annual report is anything but typical. It’s vibrant, energized, and designed to inspire! Created by local illustrator Michael Byers, the front and back covers fold out to create a mural highlighting all of the wonderful things that make Burlington not only one of the best places to live, but also to grow.

In addition to unveiling the 2015 Annual Report, BEDC introduced a Speaker Spotlight Series, where the audience heard from three unique businesses that are growing right here in Burlington: Angel One Investor Network(Karen Grant), Cogeco Connexion (Antoine Shiu), and Adlib (Scott Mackey). At the event, BEDC also recognized four individuals who have demonstrated Outstanding Leadership in Economic Development: Archie Bennett (Kinneil Capital Inc.), Alf Zeuner (AXYZ International), Maureen Barry (Burlington Public Library), and Shaun Pennell (Halton Hive).

Finally, a keynote address from Mohawk College President Ron McKerlie highlighted the importance of partnerships, and how Mohawk and Burlington will continue to work together to attract and retain top talent in our communities.
